Abilities and Upgrades
Level Up
Select Level Up from the Battle Flag menu to improve your attributes by consuming Genuine Qi.
Each time you raise one of your attributes (Five Phases Virtues), your abilities corresponding to that Phase will be enhanced.
Effects of the Five Phases Virtues
| Wood Virtue | Affects HP and the amount of Spirit lost when attacked. |

| Fire Virtue | Affects the amount of Spirit gained when attacking, and the amount of Spirit consumed by Martial Arts. |
| Earth Virtue | Affects the equipment weight limit and the amount of Spirit gained when deflecting an attack. |
| Metal Virtue | Affects the duration that a high level of Spirit can be maintained for, and the amount of Spirit consumed by Wizardry Spells. |
| Water Virtue | Affects how easily enemies can detect you and the amount of Spirit consumed when deflecting. |
Note: Genuine Qi is obtained by defeating enemies and using certain items. You will lose Genuine Qi upon death, so it is wise to use it to level up often.
Learn Wizardry Spells
You can learn new Wizardry Spells by selecting Learn Wizardry Spells under Wizardry Spells in the Battle Flag menu.
Select one of the Five Phases, then choose the Wizardry Spell you want to learn and hold down the corresponding button to do so.
Learning a Wizardry Spell requires spending Wizardry Spell Points of the corresponding Phase. You can gain more Spell Points by leveling up.
You can set up to four spells at a time from Set Wizardry Spells under Wizardry Spells in the Battle Flag menu.
Equipment
You can equip weapons and armor you find in battles from Equipment in the Character menu.
As the upgrade level of a piece of equipment increases, so too does its power. Items with greater rarity (indicated by the number of ★ icons) will gain more special effects.
Make Use of the Blacksmith
Talk to the blacksmith, located on battlefields or in the hidden village at Mt. Tianzhushan, to upgrade your equipment.

Embedment: Change Equipment's Special Effects
In the Embedment menu, you can embed or extract jewels to add special effects to your equipment or remove them.
Each piece of equipment has a certain number of embedding slots depending on its rarity, and each can be embedded with a jewel imbued with a certain special effect. Select a slot that already has a jewel embedded in it to extract the current jewel, removing its special effect.
Doing this will earn you jewel fragments. Jewel fragments can be expended to create a jewel with the effect of your choice, which can then be embedded into an empty slot.
Jewelry Essence
A jewel containing a rare special effect can be extracted through embedment to obtain Jewelry Essence. It is a vital material for creating jewels with rare special effects to embed into your equipment.
