At War and Castle Assaults
Dispatched units will advance toward a set target.
Upon arriving at an enemy county, they will begin occupying it.
When the occupation gauge reaches 0, the county will become yours, and your units will be able to march through it.
*If a county has a Fortress, damage is received during the occupation in proportion to the land holder's VAL.
*You can select many units at once and set waypoints along their march.
At War
Approaching an enemy unit will initiate combat.
Surrounding an enemy unit with at least two of your units will result in a Pincer Attack. This will lower the enemy's abilities and increase the damage you inflict.
Destroying Units
When a unit's soldier count reaches 0, the unit will be destroyed.
The officers of a destroyed unit may be captured or die in battle.
A captured officer may be executed, or if their loyalty is low, they may betray your clan and join the enemy.
Destroying a unit may also cause its affiliated castle to become agitated, which means it cannot march units.
Capture
When you destroy an enemy unit, you have a chance of capturing its officers.
Employ | Urge the officers to serve your clan. If successful, they will become your retainers. |

Execute | Executed officers will not appear again during the current playthrough. |
Release | Release a captured officer unharmed. If you capture them again later on, they will become easier to employ. |
*Officers will refuse employment when their loyalty is at max.
*Officers are easier to employ when their loyalty is low, their clan has been destroyed, and/or they have been captured multiple times.
*Direct talks may occur if an officer refuses employment. If the direct talk is successful, you can employ the officer.
Castle Assault
When a unit arrives at an enemy castle, it will begin a castle assault.
Attacking a castle and causing its HP to fall to 0 will allow you to take the castle.
Blockade and Storm
The two ways to attack a castle are blockade and storm.
Blockade | Surround a castle without actively attacking it. The damage inflicted is small, but no counter damage will be taken. Damage inflicted on the castle is determined by the attacker's blockade value against the defender's vs. blockade value. |

Storm | Actively attack a castle. The damage inflicted is great, but counter damage will be taken. Counter damage is increased when the castle has an Arrow Tower or Gunnery Tower. Damage inflicted on the castle is determined by the attacker's attack against the defender's defense. Counter damage taken by units is determined by the attacker's defense against the defender's attack. Town facilities may also be destroyed during the attack. |
Roadblock
Castles are built on a network of roads. Attacking a castle from multiple roads will weaken its defenses.
This will increase damage inflicted on the castle and reduce counter damage taken by units during the assault.
Defense Equipment
Issuing the Defense Infrastructure policy will allow you to place defense equipment. Mountain castles can use stone drops, while flatland castles can use incendiary artillery.
Defense equipment has the following features:
- Increases counter damage against enemy units
- Inflicts counter damage even against enemy units performing blockades
- Inflicts counter damage even when the castle has no soldiers
- Strengthens the gate during a siege
Siege
If the enemy castle is a main base or defensive base, a siege will take place. Victory will cause the castle to fall.
