Meeting with Yuzuki and Lime leads to Hinako gaining the ability to change into a magical warrior, a Reflector.
But what are Reflectors, really? What do they fight against? And why do they fight to begin with?
Not knowing the answers to these questions, nor why she was chosen to become a Reflector, Hinako plunges into her first battle, guided by Yuzuki and Lime.

Truth be told, Hinako did not care that much about the whys and hows. Something else completely overshadowed such concerns -- as a Reflector, she could move freely, as if her injury had never happened.
No matter what threats she faced, how scared she might be, she has to press on as a Reflector. There lies her hope for recovery. For being a ballerina again one day. She decides to fight in the hope that her sole wish will come true.
As she fights one battle after next, she gradually starts to realize what it is that she's fighting against, and what the meaning of all this is. She notices how her actions affect the real world...
Strength and Valiance
Hinako's schoolmates' problems cannot be solved solely through actions in the real world.
Their underlying causes need to be tackled in the Common, the world of humanity's collective consciousness. And this task can only be undertaken by Reflectors.

To deal with what is troubling the girls in the real world, Reflectors need to find Ether Fragments, born of strong emotions, in the Common. But many trials await Hinako and her friends in that world representing the human psyche.
Besides Fragments, various other items can be found in the Common. Some can be used for recovery while others come in handy during exploration.
Encountering an enemy starts a battle. In her Reflector form, Hinako regains full control of her movement. She fights with a sword.
Yuzuki's weapon is a staff.
Lime battles foes with her cute giant stuffed toy.
But after resolving issues in the Common, after some time a new threat appears in the real world. Sephiroth, enormous, powerful beings, come after humans in the real world. Hinako has to join forced with her friends to repel this new menace.
The girls face off foes in the Common, and explore it in search of Fragments. Once they find them, changes can be observed in the real world.
Also, as Hinako and her friends find more Fragments, they grow stronger themselves.
Hinako continues to fight bravely as a Reflector, believing that it may be the way to cure her of her injury. Unaware of how great the impact of her actions on the real world will be...
